Portlandia guest stars will include Patton Oswalt, Jim Gaffigan, Roseanne and many more!

As I said on the latest episode of the Laughspin Podcast, writers, producers and directors are, more and more, utilizing the it-takes-a-village approach to creating quality comedy television. In other words, there’s seems to be an increasingly inflated number of guest stars, cameos and story arc players embedded within many of our favorite full-time cast members on our favorite shows. Allow us to submit Portlandia’s updated list of guest stars

What’s Fred Armisen doing with the very serious videos you’re sending him?

Portlandia and Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen needs your help with a project. First thing you’re going to need to do is wipe the smile off of your face and be serious for 30 seconds. Fred calls for user-submitted videos for his Be Serious For 30 Seconds project, and lays out some ground rules. Just make a video of yourself or one other person (no more) being serious for 30

We kind of already knew Portlandia was coming back to IFC for a third season, since Carrie Brownstein let it slip during an interview on an Australian radio station last week. But tonight, it became official in New York, as the network confirmed the news at their upfront presentations, which is where network’s formally announce their plans for the coming year. The network also promised that it will air a

Portlandia’s ’80 Plates’ sketch is now a Cat Cora show on Bravo, sort of

You may remember Portlandia’s current season premiere, which featured the sketch “Around the World in 80 Plates,” wherein comedian Kumail Nanjiani played a persistent waiter at an obnoxiously eccentric casual eatery. If don’t remember or haven’t seen it, you must check it out below. But the reason I’m mentioning it now is that Food Network star Cat Cora (one of my faves) is actually going to be hosting a show

Get your read on: Portlandia is going to be a book!

America’s favorite ultra-hipster homage to Portland, Portlandia, has inspired some of the best, weirdest lines in recent memory, from “Shell art is OVER!” to “Put a bird on it!” And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t annoy my friends by asking, “Did you read? Did you read? Did you read?” (See video below for further explanation). And now, get this: the show’s off-the-wall writing will be transitioning from

What we learned from Fred Armisen’s Q&A session on Reddit

One of my favorite Internet time-wasters is Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” feature. The format is simple: users submit questions to an individual with some remarkable or interesting characteristic. And sometimes, even celebrities get involved and offer a few moments of their time to answer users’ questions, like Stephen Colbert or Louis C.K. Last night, Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live and Portlandia answered Redditors’ questions about anything and everything. In

Portlandia season 2 premiere recap: “Mixology”

All hail the return of the non-hipster-bashing Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, satirists of the twee and zeitgeist-y IRL and artisanal picklers, IPL who yes, can pickle that. Jewel cases, parking tickets, broken off heels: all pickleable. Let’s go have a cocktail. Skit 1: MINT. As a proud and well-beveraged Brooklynite, I have grown weary of fake Prohibitian-era bars that serve speakeasy-inspired cocktails made with locally-distilled gin and artisanal ice
