• Thailand government wants to ban Saturday Night Live sketch about sex tourism (Video)

Thailand’s government is seriously pissed off about a Saturday Night Live sketch that mocks the country’s well-known sex tourism industry. In the fake commercial for popular language-learning software Rosetta Stone, we find Bill Hader, Bobby Moynihan and Taran Killam playing characters who are planning a trip to Thailand “for a thing,” as Hader’s character explains.

And now, Thai culture minister Sonthaya Kunploem, with help from the nation’s government, is demanding the clip be banned from the Internet. “The sketch misrepresents Thailand and its people,” Sonthaya told Reuters. “We’re working with the Foreign Ministry to let the US know it is offensive and we have asked our information ministry to remove the clip.”

Good idea, Thailand! Make a huge stink about it so millions more who wouldn’t have normally seen it, check it out. Which brings us to the sketch, which you, dear Laughspinners, should watch and share with your friends. USA! USA! USA!
