The Simpsons pay tribute to Marcia Wallace in opening credits (Photo)

The Simpsons inserted a heart-warming tribute to deceased cast member Marcia Wallace in their first episode since the actress’ death. Wallace was the iconic voice behind Bart Simpsons’ teacher Mrs. Krabappel. She passed away from pneumonia complications on October 25.

In the opening credits sequence where Bart writes repeated lines on the chalkboard, this week he instead writes one line, “We’ll really miss you Mrs. K.” A photo of Mrs. Krabappel closed out the episode with the caption, “In loving memory of Marcia Wallace.” The Simpsons will retire her character after they finish airing pre-recorded episodes with Wallace.
