• There’s a Johnny Carson feature film in the works

Seven years after his death, a feature-length movie about iconic Tonight Show host Johnny Carson, is in the works. Based on the upcoming Bill Zehme book Carson the Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait, the film will be written by John McLaughlin (Black Swan, Hitchcock) and will be produced by McLaughlin and Tom Thayer (Sci Fi’s Ghost Hunters) in conjunction with Carson’s estate, according to Deadline.

This news comes a few weeks after the 50-year anniversary of the date Carson began work as the host of The Tonight Show on NBC, replacing Jack Paar. The Iowa native went on to host the show for 30 years and snagged five Emmys along the way. To celebrate, let’s check out a clip from a 1979 episode of the Tonight Show featuring Carson and Betty White!
