• Third ‘Bill and Ted’ flick with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter now has a director

Twenty-three years after Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure hit theaters and 21 years since its sequel, a third Bill and Ted flick is in the works– and both of the original stars, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are set to return. Of course, the biggest surprise is that Reeves, who has enjoyed a constant stream of high-paying gigs since his breakout in 1989, agreed to reprise his role as Ted Logan. Less shocking is that Winter, who’s had limited, scattered success (at best) and who hasn’t had a proper credit since 2009, was game for his return as Bill S. Preston, Esq.

The franchise’s creators and original writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson will pen the script. And attached to direct, according to Vulture, is Dean Parisot, known mostly for his 1999 cult sci-fi comedy flick Galaxy Quest with Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen and Alan Rickman. Parisot has also dabbled in television comedy, directing episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Modern Family, as well as light comedy movie fare like Fun with Dick and Jane with Jim Carrey and Home Fries with Drew Barrymore.

What’s going to be interesting is how Solomon and Matheson choose to write around the characters, seeing as both actors are now 47 years old. The question of whether the writers will cast someone as Rufus (played by the late George Carlin) or just simply do without the traveling duo’s guide is also on the table. Feel free to ponder these things — and life’s other great questions — while watching the trailer for Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
