First-look stills are in, giving a sneak peek into Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s new film The Nest, which is currently filming in Rockland County, NY. The Nest stars the Saturday Night Live alumni as two sisters who throw one last party in their family home before it’s sold. We see in the photos that fellow comedian John Leguizamo is also in the film as well as Bridesmaids star Maya Rudolph. Fey and Poehler’s comedy is due in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015 against Star Wars: Episode VII.
The two actresses both have a lot on their plate, so we’re delighted that they have the time to make another movie together, their first co-starring film since Baby Mama (although they make a hilarious cameo in Anchorman 2). Fey is executive producing a new series on NBC called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt starring Ellie Kemper as a New York City nanny who just spent 15 years living in a cult before breaking free. Her other comedy series for Fox, Cabot College, with Margaret Cho and Fortune Feimster is still in talks for a possible 6-episode midseason pick-up.
Poehler, after successfully launching web series-turned-TV-show Broad City on Comedy Central, is hoping to make Billy on the Street host Billy Eichner a sitcom star on USA Network in Difficult People. Her popular comedy pilot Old Soul starring Orange Is The New Black‘s Natasha Lyonne is still alive over at NBC. She co-stars with Paul Rudd in They Came Together in theaters later this month and she will wrap up her Golden Globe-winning role as Leslie Knope on the final season of Parks and Recreation next year. The two funny ladies have a lot going on, and have taken on increasing responsibility off-camera. Lucky for us, they have enough time to schedule shooting a funny movie together. Not to mention seeing them co-host the next two Golden Globe Awards ceremonies!
