During Tracy Morgan’s appearance last night on Conan, the veteran comedian says he forgives the Walmart truck driver responsible for the 2014 crash that left him in dire medical condition. “I forgave him and I’m not even mad at him no more,” Morgan tells Conan O’Brien, before launching into some classic Morgan-esque comedy about his family. Check it out below.
Tracy Morgan did a television interview on Today in June of last, his first public interview since his deadly car accident last year. Speaking with Matt Lauer alongside his lawyer Benedict Morelli, Morgan spoke out about the June 7, 2014 crash that landed him in a coma and the then-recent settlement with Walmart. On the morning of the accident, a Walmart truck driver caused a multi-vehicle accident involving the comedian and his assistant Jeff Millea, as well as comedians Ardie Fuqua, Harris Stanton and James McNair. James ‘Jimmy Mack’ McNair died as a result.
Surprisingly, Tracy Morgan also thanked Walmart for “coming through in the clutch” and taking “full responsibility” for the accident. The sum of the settlement has not been disclosed but the pain remains for the comedian who lost his writing partner and close friend. “The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mack,” Morgan tearfully said as he clutched at his cane.
The comedy world suffered a huge blow that day, losing some talented comedians for over a year and losing Jimmy Mack permanently. Fuqua and Morgan have both remained sidelined from the stage for quite some time. But clearly Tracy Morgan is back in a big way.
