Futurama writers Josh Weinstein and Dan Vebber join Matt Groening and David X. Cohen in episode three of Comedy Central’s Countdown to Futurama podcast. The Futurama crew has already told us what to expect from the first two episodes. And in the new episode they discuss episodes three and four of the upcoming seventh season: “Decision 3012” and “The Thief of Baghead.” Once again they share plenty of production stills and spoilers from the episodes.
We learned last week that “Decision 3012” deals with the 3012 Presidential election– that a promising new candidate Chris Travers runs against Richard Nixon and is the only hope in preventing some terrible events. This week the crew discusses those terrible events- Bender’s subplot, in which his dreams come true and he finally makes good on his longtime promise to destroy all humans. Bender leads a robot revolt “in the future of the future,” several years beyond 3012. Here we see Bender leading his massive robot rebellion (above) with the help of Destructor, who you might remember from the time he almost killed Bender in the Ultimate Robot Fighting league.
Bender takes up photography in episode four “The Thief of Baghead,” a much more leisurely pastime than killing off the human race. Bender, who is the last remaining non-digital photographer in the world in the future, sets out to capture a photograph of Baghead, the future’s greatest living actor whose face has never been seen.
David X. Cohen promises an epic “acting contest to the death” between Baghead and Calculon. We can only hope, for the future of All My Circuits, that Calculon wins (see image below). Also, they share a still of Fry, Hermes and Amy with their “life forces” removed (below). No word on exactly what that means for them, so tune in to find out!
Futurama returns with a special one-hour premiere on June 20 at 10 pm EST on Comedy Central.
