WATCH: When Everything’s a Mass Shooting: UCB releases dark comedy commentary on gun violence

UCB Comedy, surely not known for shying away from the odd, absurd or controversial, has just released a new sketch titled “When Everything’s A Mass Shooting.” Honestly, when I first read the title I thought it was going to be a commentary on the definition of what a mass shooting is. After all, there’s been some debate over this. “The FBI used to consider someone a ‘mass murderer’ if they killed four or more people during one event, regardless of weapons used,” according to the Washington Post. “But starting in 2013, federal statutes defined ‘mass killing’ as three or more people killed, regardless of weapons. And… that tally doesn’t include the killer if he or she is eventually killed by law enforcement or takes his or her own life.”

Then there’s the the Mass Shootings Tracker, which says a mass shooting is one in which four or more people are killed or even hurt by gunfire. But no, the reality of this video has nothing to do with parsing words; it’s much more stark than that. “It’s a satirical sketch that paints a picture of a world just a shade different from our own where Mass Shootings are as commonplace as traffic accidents or bad weather,” explains director David Zwick.

Featuring Julie Brister (Amazon’s Goliath) Will Hines (NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Hayley Marie Norman (truTV’s Adam Ruins Everything) and more “When Everything’s A Mass Shooting” will no doubt raise some eyebrows and ruffle some feathers if seen by the right (wrong?) people. I’ll just leave it right here and let you guys have your say. Enjoy?
