• Whoopi Goldberg joins Jermaine Fowler’s ABC sitcom

Whoopi Goldberg will join comedian Jermaine Fowler in a new ABC sitcom Delores & Jermaine. The outspoken co-host of The View has signed on to film the pilot in New York City. Jermaine Fowler created the pilot for Delores & Jermaine based on his life. Fowler stars as a millennial with big ideas but little motivation who moves in with his estranged grandmother (Goldberg), a strict former D.C. cop. Naturally, two realize that they both need each other.

Whoopi Goldberg still has another year left on her contract with The View, but no word yet on whether she will leave the show if Delores & Jermaine is picked up for series. Both are in New York so she could feasibly manage both sets of duties. This is her return to starring in a sitcom since her short-lived series Whoopi lasted one season on NBC. Jermaine Fowler can be seen on the truTV sketch-comedy series Friends of the People.
