• Will Smith turning ‘Hitch’ into Fox comedy series

Will Smith is bringing Hitch to the small screen (or computer screen, or phone screen…wherever you watch things now). Smith is developing his 2005 hit movie into a half-hour comedy series for Fox. Smith starred in Hitch as a dating consultant for good guys who lacked the confidence and knowledge to date the women they pined for. Kevin James co-starred as fumbling finance guy Albert Brennaman who wanted to date a model (but for only the right reasons). The film, which also starred Eva Mendes, grossed nearly $370 million worldwide. Overbrook Entertainment‘s James Lassiter is working with Smith on the single-camera project. Overbrook and Sony TV previously attempted an adaptation in 2007 at CBS before trying a first stab at Fox in 2010. Fox’s Hitch would be a workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics. Maybe we’ll see a Kevin James return to TV?
