Zach Galifianakis visited The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon last night to chat about his new movie Birdman, in which he stars alongside Edward Norton and Michael Keaton. Opening in theaters this Friday, Oct. 17, it follows the life of Keaton’s character, a one-time blockbuster movie star who starred in the fictional Birdman franchise.
The actor finds himself staging a Broadway play in order to re-establish himself as a respected figure in the world of entertainment. The movie is noteworthy, not just because of the stellar cast – Amy Ryan, Naomi Watts and Emma Stone also star – but also because director Alejandro González Iñárritu shot the entire 2-hour dark comedy in 30 days and using barely any cuts. Check out the video below, wherein Galifianakis talks to Fallon about the filming process.
In this second segment, Galifianakis tells Fallon about being a new father. “I think fatherhood is the greatest thing,” Galifianakis tells Fallon. “[My son] is young, so I bathe with him in the tub. It’s cute. I realized when we were bathing once his testicles fit perfectly in my belly button. And I’m not a particularly religious person but when I saw that I was like, ‘Oh, there’s a god.’ It all makes sense now. It’s by design.”
